That Time I went on a Professional Fingerboard Tour

Back in 2011, I had the chance of a lifetime. I spent 3 months living at Blackriver HQ in Schwarzenbach an der Salle, Germany. During my time there I went to Berlin twice to shred the Blackriver Store (now ASI). I stopped by Voghera, Italy to support the Hands Therapy contest. I even had a chance to sesh with Rune Glifburg at ISPO, the world's largest action sports convention.

There was a big plan here, upon return to the USA from Germany, Boris Dietschi, Andreas Hies, Chris Heck, and I would tour from Seattle down to Santa Cruz hitting up skateshops along the way. The goal here was to introduce them to the world of fingerboarding and Blackriver products. Now with that background, I encourage you to watch this 4 episode series to get a sense of what life is like on a professional fingerboard tour!

I have to say, re-watching these videos makes me super nostalgic. I had an amazing time with my friends Andreas, Boris and Chris (and also Leon too!). Yes, we fingerboarded & skated a lot on this tour, but we also spent time talking about life and hanging out.

Look closely at Part Three... we meetup with some local Santa Cruz fingerboarders, including Sam Aronie and Jesse Reger :)

How many people can say that they went on a professional fingerboard tour? Not many!

Fingerboarding since 1998, Chris has been continuously involved in the online fingerboard scene since 1999. A pioneer in the English-speaking fingerboard scene, he has moderated and administrated multiple major fingerboard forums including RZF and FingerFlipInc (FFI). In 2008, he founded the global fingerboard community FBWeekly as a way to connect fingerboard scenes around the world in one portal. With over 20 authors representing fingerboarders from around the world, FBWeekly quickly became an important source for fingerboard news.
