Now Pop it Out!

I saw a post from a Fingerboarder on the fingerboards subreddit asking how to pop out of Grinds. This is actually a common issue beginner and intermediate fingerboarders face and one th at doesn't get talked about in trick tip videos.

Beginners

The two most important items to focus on is getting leverage. To do this we employ two tips:

1) Dip It!

By dipping the board ever so slightly as you begin your Ollie, you are creating extra leverage that you can use to springboard from.

2) Push on Through to the Otherside!

Continue your momentum through the end of the grind. I notice a lot of beginner and intermediate fingerboarders slow down or even stop at the end of the grind. By continuing on through with speed, you can use that to your advantage. This is especially important for nosegrind and crooked Grinds!

Intermediate

Alright, so you've gotten down ollieing out of 50-50's, 5-0's and even nosegrinds, but are struggling on other irregular finger positions. Let's take a look at ollieing out of Grinds where you've 180'd into.

In the following clip, you'll see that I'm doing a FS 180 Switch Crook.

Notice, I'm applying both techniques from the beginner lesson. I'm dipping the tail slightly and following through with momentum. This momentum is even more important in this finger positioning.

Advanced

We've covered the standard stance and the frontside 180 stance, well how the heck do I pop out of a backside 180 grind? Well listen up, Padawan, I'm going to give you some tips!

Remember those two beginner tips? Well, they are even more important now! We need all the leverage we can get to pop out!
